About us
The problem
Individuals
Most people are already familiar with the saying "if you don't pay for the product, you are the product". Almost everyone is using the free services of the big tech companies. Although it is known that these companies are making money out of you by getting and selling as much data about you as possible, people still use their services. The problem is that most people don't have the knowledge and time to take matters in their own hands.
Organisations
Commercial vendors try to let organisations grow on their closed platforms. The more is built on these foundations the more difficult is will get to migrate to another platform. This happens because vendors try to trap their clients in a "vendor lock-in". Open Source software uses open standards so your organisation can be free to choose and use any kind of software or platform and therefor won't be dependent on one vendor. Smaller organisations do not have sufficient in-house technological knowledge to deploy this and therefor it seems appealing to make use of these kinds of commercial platforms for little or no cost. But as the number of employees grow the costs will increase significantly and quickly be more expensive.
Our mission
We want to promote the use of Open Source software on private servers. In that way users gain control over their data, are free to choose whatever kind of applications or platforms they want to use, and organisations can safe a lot of money because they're not tied to expensive licensing costs. The only costs are those of the infrastructure. Qlickcloud will donate money to support all the Open Source projects that we lean on.
